Stephen "Augie" Augustine was born in 1967 in Mansfield, Ohio. In 1991 he graduated from Kent State University with Bachelor Degrees from both the School of Arts and the School of Science. After college he worked in futures trading for British Petroleum. During this corporate stint he spent most of his spare time writing and creating art and photography. In 1993, during a conversation with a stranger on a chairlift, Augie discovered the creative possibilities of digital imaging. For the next two years, he traded sleep to perfect his new passion. In 1995 he jumped the corporate ship and took an entry-level imaging position with a small sign company in order to break in to this emerging industry. Two years later, Augie founded Eye Candy Graphics - an advertising and design company in Denver, Colorado. Eye Candy Graphics specializes in large format printing and exhibits with a creative spin, catering primarily to the design and fine arts communities. Recent clients include the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games, the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, the Cannes Film Festival, and Nickelodeon.
Augie stays active in the Denver arts community. He has served as a panelist for the Mayor's Office of Art, Culture and Film, and is a member of the Denver Design Council. You can also read his musings in a humor column he pens for Digital Graphics Magazine.
